The Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in Korea (PCCK), a non-profit organization, made two important strategic decisions at its February 2025 Board of Directors meeting that will determine the future direction of the organization.
PCCK changed its official name to clarify its legal status and identity, and finalized and announced a detailed "2025 Business Plan" to deliver tangible value to its members. This signifies that PCCK is ready to take a leap forward based on a systematic vision and implementation plan.
A New Identity: The Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in Korea
The PCCK has officially changed its name from the "Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in Korea" to the "Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in Korea." This name change is more than a simple adjustment; it is a strategic decision to ensure the organization's long-term development.
This decision was driven by practical considerations regarding securing legal status as a "corporate association." The term "Chamber of Commerce" may have restrictions on its use under the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Act. By preemptively changing its name to "Commerce Club," PCCK made a wise choice to avoid potential legal issues and facilitate the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's approval process for the establishment of a corporation. This demonstrates PCCK's pragmatic and wise approach to maintaining a strong brand identity while securing a stable legal foundation.
2025 Action Plan: Key Core Businesses
The 2025 business plan announced by PCCK contains specific implementation plans centered on three core values: "support for member companies," "international exchange," and "contribution to the community."
1. Dispatch of a delegation to Pakistan in the first half of the year: Participation in the Lahore Expo (April 16-20, 2025)
- Objective: To participate as a buyer in the 'Health & Mineral Show' held in Lahore, Pakistan at the official invitation of the Embassy of Pakistan in Korea.
- Expected Results: This event will provide member companies with practical business matching opportunities, allowing them to experience the local Pakistani market firsthand and identify promising buyers. It will also serve as an opportunity to showcase the close cooperative relationship with the Pakistani Embassy in Korea both domestically and internationally.
2. Dispatch of a Pakistani delegation in the second half of the year: MOU signing in three cities (October 17-24, 2025)
- Objective: Sign MOUs with chambers of commerce in three major cities in Pakistan - Lahore, Gujranwala, and Islamabad - and visit the Gujranwala liaison office to discuss practical cooperation measures.
- Expected Results: Establish a comprehensive cooperative network with Pakistan's key economic zones and activate local hubs, laying the foundation for sustainable exchanges. This will further strengthen the PCCK's diplomatic and economic influence.
3. Support for the Korean Community: Chuseok Scholarship Award Ceremony (September 20, 2025)
- Objective: To celebrate Chuseok, a major Korean holiday, we will host an exchange event for Pakistani residents, students, and workers in Korea, and award scholarships to selected outstanding students.
- Expected Results: Demonstrates that PCCK serves as a focal point for the entire Pakistani community in Korea, extending beyond the business community. By investing in future generations, it builds long-term human networks and enhances the positive image of the organization as a socially responsible entity.
In addition, PCCK plans to hold regular monthly meetings and board meetings to facilitate communication and information exchange among members, and provide diverse support to members through the specialized activities of its seven subcommittees. 2025 will mark the beginning of PCCK's purposeful activities under a clear blueprint.
